Statement

The West Virginia Schools Athletic Coaches Association (WVSACA) is a professional membership organization for the Coaches of West Virginia Schools. Members primarily       are serving at one of our public/private High Schools or Middle Schools but college coaches have and are encouraged to be a part of this organization.

    This association Does Not administer, interpret, or enforce any rules governing athletics at our state schools. This is the sole responsibility of the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission wvssac.org in which we serve and support in an advisory role only.

Objectives

                                                       1.  To promote and encourage high ethical standards in the coaching profession of West Virginia.

                                                       2.  To promote a spirit of friendly cooperation n the profession.

                                                       3.  To cooperate in developing a larger and better trained body of coaches and officials in the state.

                                                       4.  To cooperate with the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission.

                                                       5.  To promote, reward, and recognize member coaches in sport and administrative areas.

                                                       6.  To provide a network of communications for all coaches, administrators, and officials in the state.

WV Schools Athletic Coaches Association Activities

• Selects a Coach of the Year in sixteen sport and administrative areas and honors them at the North-South football game.

• Honors retired coaches each year at the State Boys Basketball Tournament.

• Presents each Regional Coach of the Year with a certificate.

• Holds a reception for honored retired coaches and their families.

• Provides a hospitality room for members at the State Football Playoffs, State Girls Basketball Tournament, State Boys Basketball Tournament, State Softball Tournament, State Baseball Tournament, and State Boys & Girls Track Tournament.

• Holds a reception for Coach of the Year winners following the North-South game.

• Provides scholarships for North-South players.

• Provides a Coaches Association Website:  www.wvcoaches.com

• College Football Hall of Fame provides ten scholarships.

• Conducts an annual General Membership Meeting at the State Basketball Tournament

• Periodically sponsors Coaching Clinic.

• Provides a Female Scholar/Athlete Scholarship Award.
